Seachtain na Gaeilge happens in March every year, usually around Lá Fhéile Pádraig – St. Patrick's Day
During Seachtain na Gaeilge, everybody in the school makes a special effort to speak lots of Irish.
Bhí Seachtain na Gaeilge den scoth againn! Bhaineamar an-taitneamh as na himeachtaí éagsúla.
This year, a wide ranging list of activities took place internally in classes and externally in the whole school with lots of colour, and a great gaelic atmosphere. Each class performed as Gaeilge at Junior and Senior assemblies with prizes given on the day for Gaeilgeoir is fearr.
A special céilí was held at Junior Assembly where each class displayed their dancing talents. Senior classes performed dramas and songs as Gaeilge.
We also had a performance from the Maynooth Post Primary Trad Band. The children learned a lot about traditional instruments and got to meet some talented past pupils.
This year we even had our own radio station. Every day at midday, some of the boys from sixth gave us the news of the day as gaeilge along with an irish version of a popular song!
We finished Seachtain na Gaeilge with a”Lá Glas” on Friday 16th March. The school looked amazing with its sea of green!!
Míle buíochas do gach duine a ghlac páirt ins na himeachtaí go léir!
