Annual General Meeting

The AGM of the Parent Teacher Association will be held in the School Hall on Wednesday next, 21st September 2011 at 8.00pm sharp. Our Guest Speaker for the evening will be Sean Ó Cassaide from the Child Abuse Prevention Programme (CAPP). Sean will give us a short talk on child protection issues and bullying, topics we as parents all need to keep abreast of. Also included on the agenda for the evening will be the election of the two parent representatives (preferably a mother and a father) to the Board of Management.

The agenda for the meeting is as follows:

  • Welcome and Introductions
  • Approval of the Minutes of the 2010 AGM
  • Financial Statement
  • Chairman’s Review of the Year
  • Principal’s Statement
  • Board of Management Election
  • AOB
  • Guest Speaker – Sean Ó Cassaide from the Child Abuse Prevention Programme (CAPP)
  • Tea and Coffee

With our Guest Speaker covering very topical issues and Board of Management elections, we are looking for a high turnout on the night. We have decided to bring the AGM forward by a month so that the incoming committee will have more time available to them for projects. We are also taking the step of asking parents to come up with ideas and suggestions that they would like to see implemented during the coming school year. Whilst the proposals can cover the entire spectrum in terms of size and commitment, their objectives must be about improving the educational environment for our sons. They can range from changes or improvements to the physical environment through to extra-curricula activities that are just plain fun! Every idea will get an airing at the committee who will then prioritise them according to various criteria including availability of funds, availability of parental and teacher resources to implement them, popularity etc. Please send your suggestions via the Contact Us form. Please include your name and contact details so that, should the need arise, we can get in touch with you to discuss your suggestion further.

On behalf of the committee, I’m looking forward to meeting you all on the 21st, particularly those of you who are new to the school this term.

Kind regards,
David Walsh, Chairperson.
