October PTA News

New members appeal, Constitution update and request for Voluntary Contribution for 2010-11.

At last week’s AGM we had a great response to the appeal for new members to join the committee. The first meeting will take place at 8pm on 2nd November at the school. If you could not make the AGM but would like to be involved in shaping your son’s educational environment then please come along. The PTA particularly needs more involvement from fathers and also more parents of the younger boys.

As per the vote at the AGM the PTA Constitution has been updated to allow the officer position of Secretary to be held by a committee member that has not previously served one year.

It is time to start the new term for the PTA with the request for the annual Voluntary Subscription. Last year, in recognition of the difficult economic environment facing families, we reduced the subscription from €100 per family to €50 per family. The only additional fundraising we carried out during the year was the School Cookbook. Unfortunately, the economic environment, if anything, has worsened since then. Acknowledging this, the committee has decided to keep the Voluntary Subscription at €50. To make up for the shortfall in funding, we will be holding a sponsored walk in March or April, details of which will be advertised closer to the time.
