We are making a particular appeal to parents this year to come forward and join the committee. As a number of our longstanding members are taking a well-earned break from committee duties, we need some new faces and ideas to join the team. There are lots of positives to being an active member of the PTA not least of which is playing an active role in the improvement of your son’s educational environment. The broader the skill base available to the committee the greater the range of tasks we can accomplish throughout the year. There is also a social aspect to being on the committee as it is a great way to meet other parents either at our monthly meetings or during some of the many activities we get involved in. The only qualification required is that you have a son in the school!

On behalf of the committee, I’m looking forward to meeting you all on the 6th, particularly those of you who are new to the school this term.

Kind regards,
David Walsh, Chairperson.

Proposed Change to the Constitution:

In order to give new members an opportunity to become more involved in the committee of the Parent Teacher Association, it was felt that the restrictions on the position Secretary should be lifted. It is therefore proposed to replace the following sentence from the constitution:

“An officer of the Parent Teacher Association must have served at least one year as an ordinary member of the committee.”

With the following:

“The Chairperson and Treasurer of the Parent Teacher Association must have served at least one year as an ordinary member of the committee.”
