January PTA News

Recent events and meeting minutes.

Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas break! It was a busy time in the run up to Christmas for the PTA with some festive fundraisers. The Christmas Cards were a great success and the children produced some lovely personalised and original cards. The money raised from the sale of the cards came to around €1300 so a big thank you to the boys for their hard work producing the artwork and to the parents for buying the cards. I’m sure they were very much appreciated by friends and family! This money has been earmarked for purchasing several iPads for the school, which will be a great addition.
The Coffee morning, held on the day of the school Cake Sale, was a great success. Lots of gorgeous cakes were on offer – we really have some talented bakers among us! It was a lovely way for parents to have a catch up and was very well attended. Many thanks to all those who came, we raised a total of €278 and after a small amount of deductions made a very healthy profit of €265. This money went towards expenses for Santa Claus’s visit and helped to make it a very special day for the boys.
And speaking of which, the visit of Santa Claus was a great day! Santa generously took time out of his busy schedule to visit the school. On hearing he was on his way, the boys waited excitedly in the school yard for the arrival of the very special visitor! As usual, he did not disappoint and arrived in spectacular style, delivered safely by Maynooth’s fire department.
The boys got to meet the firemen and sing Santa into the school, where they partied the day away. Each class met with Santa and received a small gift before participating in some games and dancing. The day was magical as always and even the helpers really got into the spirit of things! Pictures of the day can be seen on the main school site.
Upcoming events include the coin challenge, which will begin on the 26th of January and the weigh-in will be performed on Monday the 9th of February. Prizes will be awarded when the counting has been completed, the children all get very competitive during this challenge and all are eager win the class trip to the cinema.
Also on the agenda is the Sponsored Walk and Family Fun day – which will take place on the 19th of April. This is always a great day out for all the family. As usual, we will be looking for volunteers to help with both the Coin Challenge and the Family Fun day – a few tall dads would be great to help put the sumo wrestling outfits on the boys!
